Swimming Sports
The Warrnambool College community once again showed off its community spirit and comradery this week with the annual college swimming sports. A slightly overcast day wasn’t going to stop students from dressing in house colours and cheering on their fellow team members. From the first event there was a buzz of competitive excitement and the students came prepared to compete. We had some amazing times set through the day but the most pleasing aspect was the participation of the students in attendance.
A special mention to the students of all ages combining for the novelty events, both in and out of the pool. The peg relay and tube relay were quite possibly the most supported events on the day and it was great to see the teachers getting involved in these events. The non-swimming novelty events of skipping and limbo also proved popular with huge student support. At the end of the official program, the entire school community combined for what could be the newest addition to the program, the staff vs students relay. After a tight start, the staff were able to perform when required and managed to take out a win against the students. It was fantastic to see the entire cohort on the side of the pool supporting this event and really showcased the Warrnambool College spirit we all know we possess.
Congratulations to all students who were involved on the day.The atmosphere was fantastic.
We will be announcing our age champions at our next whole school assembly on Monday the 25th. A further congratulations goes to Belfast House for taking home the Swimming Sports Trophy, mostly due to the high levels of participation throughout the day.
Also a thank you to all the staff who helped out to make this day run smoothly.
