Public Speaking

Our 2019 year of Public Speaking at the college has skyrocketed off to a great start! Four inspiring senior students (Tiffany Tracey, Meg Reuel, Hannah Moon and Sophie O’Brien) prepared to speak their mind and involve themselves in the wider local community by participating in Lions Youth of the Year. It is an honour and a privilege to work with such talented students and future leaders.  I congratulate all students for their involvement and outstanding contributions to the school and beyond. This week, Sophie O’Brien received the Public Speaking Award at the Koroit Lions Club final, while Tiffany Tracey won both the major award and the public speaking prize at the Warrnambool Lions Club Final. Tiffany will compete at the district competition this Sunday and we wish her all the best for this challenging but rewarding event. One of the judges expressed the following sentiment to Tiffany at the end of the evening; ‘Your final speech was technically perfect and executed exceptionally well.’ Congratulations girls! So proud of you all.

Warrnambool Speech and Drama Eisteddfod Entries NOW OPEN!!!

Being involved in the Warrnambool Speech and Drama Eisteddfodis a great way to build confidence, enhance public speaking skills, or have a go at poetry readings, acting and all manner of reasons to get up on stage and showcase student talent.

Students can pick up an Eisteddfod program and entry form from the main office or from Ms. Lumsden/Cavanough who you will find in old library area while building works continue.  All entries must be returned and paid for by March 29th; that is the LATEST!!!

Despite the event not being held until the end of May, the Eisteddfod committee need the entries in term 1 and NO late entries will be accepted. There is a $7 or $8 fee for each section. This cannot be paid via Compass so ask your child to pay this directly to main office when they return their entry form. I have also placed all documentation on Compass. Further information on the Eisteddfod can be accessed at the website stardom.com.au.  Please DO NOT enter on Stardom. I will collate entries and enter Warrnambool College students via Stardom.
