Hairspray! School Musical

YOU CAN’T STOP THE BEAT!

We are thrilled to announce to the College Community that the 2019 school musical is ‘HAIRSPRAY’ - a family-friendly musical, piled bouffant-high with laughter, romance and deliriously tuneful songs.

 

INFO SESSIONS

  • TUESDAY 5th MARCH, First break 11:45am in the AUDITORIUM - for any and all students keen to get their hair high and dancing shoes be it ON STAGE or OFF or in the BAND 
  • WEDNESDAY 6th MARCH 6 – 6:30pm, in the AUDITORIUM - for parents with children wishing to be involved there is an information session

 

Auditions will be after school the following week. 

 

THE STORYLINE

 It's 1962 in Baltimore, and the lovable plus-size teen, Tracy Turnblad, has only one desire – to dance on the popular "Corny Collins Show." When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star. She must use her newfound power to dethrone the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob, Link Larkin, and integrate a TV network... all without denting her 'do!

 

A total of FIVE shows will be performed at the Lighthouse Theatre this AUGUST 15 – 17th. Tickets on sale soon. For more information please contact the Producer of the musical - Kerry Cheeseman.

Student Insurance/Ambulance

Student accident insurance/Ambulance cover arrangements and private property brought to school

· Parents are reminded that the Department does not provide personal accident insurance or ambulance cover for students. Parents and guardians of students, who do not have student accident insurance/ambulance cover, are responsible for paying the cost of medical treatment for injured students, including the cost of ambulance attendance / transport and any other transport costs.

 

· Private property brought to school by students, staff or visitors is not insured and the Department does not accept any responsibility for any loss or damage.

 

· The Department cannot advise parents/guardians on whether to purchase a student accident policy/ambulance cover, or which policy to purchase. It is recommended that they seek assistance in this matter with their insurance broker or find a suitable personal accident insurer in the Yellow Pages or online.

 

· Parents/guardians of students, who do not have student accident insurance, are responsible for paying the cost of medical treatment for injured students, including the cost of ambulance attendance/transport and any other transport costs; and

 

· Parents/guardians can purchase insurance policies from commercial insurers. An example of cover provided by EBM insurance has been sent home with your child through our Tute classes.

 

· Parents/guardians and staff are reminded that the Department does not hold insurance for personal property brought to schools and it has no capacity to pay for any loss or damage to such property.

 

· Personal property is often brought to school by students, staff and visitors. This can include mobile phones, calculators, toys, sporting equipment and cars parked on school premises. As the Department does not hold insurance for personal property brought to schools and has no capacity to pay for any loss or damage to such property students, staff should be discouraged from bringing any unnecessary or particularly valuable items to school. 

WC Engagment and Wellbeing Committee

The Engagement and Wellbeing Committee are passionate about the comfort and wellbeing of every member of the Warrnambool College. Appreciating and utilising the opinions of students, parents and teachers of the school, this committee aims to explore the way our school can improve its sense of community by tackling issues such as teacher concern, student voice, uniform and general college wellbeing. In collaboration with BigLife, the Engagement and Wellbeing committee are looking to improve the school and they need your help. If you’re interested in joining this team, please leave your name at the front office and you will be contacted in regards to our first meeting.
