Middle School

Year 9 Science

Over the last few weeks students in Year 9 Science have been learning about the Nervous System. All students took part in a brain dissection in order to learn the structures and functions of the brain.

Year 10 Outdoor Education

The new Year 10 Outdoor Education group went on tour to Toolangi last week. The students investigate different land uses and the perceptions of various groups of people.

First stop was the Toolangi Sculpture Trail where artists used the environment for inspiration for their amazing sculptures.

Then we visited a variety of Mountain Ash forests at various ages including old growth, 1939 regrowth, 20 and 10 year regenerated forest and a recently logged coupe. Students are also doing a project on the proposed Great Forest National Park and issues surrounding it. To finish off, students visited Wirrawilla Rainforest, a cool temperate rainforest dominated by the Myrtle Beech and Southern Sassafras. These tree species date back to a time when we were still Gondwanaland.

Year 10 Basketball

Last week I had the pleasure of taking both a boys and girls team to Knox Stadium to compete in the Intermediate Basketball.

Both teams were put in the A division and points and wins were hard to come by. To their credit they fought valiantly in all games and never gave up. The girls team, in particular, improved over the course of the day as their confident grew and they were prepared to attack more.

Well done to both teams for the effort and sportsmanship shown.
