FriendsMusic Barn Dance

We look forward to welcoming many members of the School community to the FriendsMusic Barn Dance on Saturday 25 August. The dance is a significant fundraising event for FriendsMusic and this year will be somewhat of a ‘send-off’ for the Wind Ensemble that leaves for Melbourne the next day.

Tickets are available from Main Reception and are: $30 - Adults 

$15 - Students 

$90 - Family.

Kettering Piano Quartet

The Kettering Piano Quartet returns to The Friends’ School during September for its second residency. Featuring superb professional musicians, Emma McGrath (violin), Will Newbery (viola), Brett Rutherford (cello) and Jennifer Marten-Smith (piano), the Quartet performs music that is seldom heard in Hobart.

In addition to presenting an open rehearsal in The Farrall Centre from 4pm to 5.30pm on Monday 17 September, the ensemble will also feature alongside several Friends’ chamber ensembles in a special fundraising concert on Thursday 20 September at the Bahai Centre.

Finally, the Quartet will present a public concert at The Farrall Centre on Sunday 23 September commencing at 2pm. This concert will feature works by Schumann and Beethoven; the Beethoven Piano Quartet Op. 16 is so good that the composer published it twice! Please join us for an afternoon of music par excellence. Tickets are $25 for adults ($15 concession) and $10 for students, and are available at the TSO Box Office or at the door. Friends’ students may attend free.
