Prep/One News

There are some very tired children (and teachers) heading off on holidays…It certainly has been another busy term! Check out some of their assessments on Compass.

In Maths, we have been working on Statistics and Probability. We have been answering yes and no questions and making graphs. We have looked and the vocabulary of Probability learning words such as impossible/won’t, maybe/might, certain/will.

In English, we have learned two spelling rules. The first “Long spelling right after a short vowel” helps children to spell words using k/ck, ch/tch. The second rule was the “Gentle Cindy” rule. Your child has brought home a poster to explain it to you, it helps the children decide when a [g] says /j/ and a [c] says /s/.

In Integrated Studies, we have finished our unit on safety and your child’s final assessment is in the learning tasks section on Compass. Next term were are having a Science focus and starting our step up process for moving to new grades next year.

Year 1/2

We've had a busy couple of weeks leading up to the end of this term. Last week was Emma Dowson's last week with us on her final teaching placement. We have also been very lucky to have Mrs B start working with us this week and the students are all looking forward to working with her next term. This week has been full of fun with footy day, the inventors expo and a baby shower. The student played pin the dummy on the baby, they have given predictions about what date the baby with arrive and if it is a girl or a boy. The students have also given me a long list of name suggestions and a book of advice for when the baby arrives. I've had such a wonderful year working with the students in Year 1/2 and am very proud of the progress they have made this year! Mrs Davidge
