2020 is done…. Nearly.  A very big congratulations to everyone for getting through what has been an incredibly tough and challenging year.  I have been so impressed each week with how well so many students have engaged with learning through many challenges this year, and how well students have returned to onsite learning again.

It feels a bit like this year has gone longer than usual, and that makes a lot of sense too.  We have all adapted to many different changes in how and where we can travel, how we go shopping, and how we go to work – that’s hard work!  This has not been an easy thing to do for any of us.  I am glad that we can celebrate getting through 2020 (almost), but we should also think about how we will stay supported and connected through the Summer holidays.

For students and adults alike, it is important to check in with the people you love to see how they are doing and to share if you have any struggles yourself.  If you do not have anyone that you feel connected to, there are plenty of online / phone supports available to you too.

If you are looking for some extra connection of the Summer break, have a look at these ways to stay connected and supported:

Remember to spend time with your family and friends, get outside, and enjoy the weather.  We cannot wait to see you all next year!

REST, RELAX and RECUPERATE:

What a year, and finally the end is in sight! So what to do during the holidays?

My advice will be to relax, rest and recuperate, this may seem easy to do, but is it?

For many of our families, it will be getting out in the sunshine, catching up with friends and relatives, exercising, watching TV or just having a sleep in- but for some of us it may not be.

With 2020 being so unsettled now that there is time to stop, it allows us time to reflect on the year it was!  For many of us we will think ‘Thank Goodness it is nearly over’, but for some including ourselves/ children/ siblings) it may bring about all sorts of different emotions!

If you feel you or your child are not coping, there are several places on line you can turn to for some initial help.

Beyond Blue have some wonderful resources which can be found at:

from this you website you can do a bit of exploring there are subheadings of:

Age 1 -5, Age 6 – 12, Age 13+, Healthy Homes and Seeking Support - > something for everyone!!

There are other websites and services available that families can turn to for support, one being the ‘2020 Christmas holiday supports poster’ that is also attached.

Your GP is also able to provide support and advice if you are concerned about either your or family / friend’s mental health.

Stay safe, remember to social distance, wash / sanitise your hands and wear a face mask when appropriate!
