End of School Banking

Firstly, I would like to sincerely thank you for being a part of our program. We are very proud of the fact that we have offered this program to Australian schools since 1931 and we are sad that it will be ending for your school.

From Term 1, 2021 the Victorian Government has ceased school banking programs in Victorian government schools. As a result, the CommBank School Banking program will no longer operate at our school after the end of this term. If you are unsure of other methods of depositing to your child’s account, please feel free to contact the Bank’s general enquiries hotline on 13 2221 or alternatively visit your local CommBank branch.

We would like to thank you for your participation and support throughout the School Banking program.

School Banking Deposits

We ask that any monies outstanding relating to deposits accepted to the program are processed prior to the end of the term and are paid into your school’s clearing account by Friday 18 December 2020 at the latest. This will ensure there is no delay in the accurate processing of deposits to children’s accounts.

Roots and Shoots Geelong<geelongrands@gmail.com>

I'm writing to you on behalf of a small volunteer team based in the Greater Geelong region. We belong to the Jane Goodall Institute of Australia's youth program - Roots & Shoots. Myself and my co-leader, Sooze, have just established a group in the Greater Geelong region

This year we have a fantastic line-up of events

Our planned events for this year are open to anyone and we aim to make many of them accessible online to ensure everyone can participate. Here’s our exciting line-up for 2021:

  •  January – Guest speaker Lyn Watson and JANE movie night – on site/online
  • February – Bushfire fundraiser trivia night – on site
  • March - Indigenous Education presentation and nature craft – On site/online
  • April – Easter/Autumnal waste-free picnic and native garden walk – on site
  • May – Sustainable food day – online
  • June – Geelong tree planting – on site
  • July – Pollinator attracting crafts - online
  • August – Baked goods and hot drinks stall – on site
  • September – Indigenous education presentation and nature craft – on site/online
  • October – Halloween fundraiser sale – on site
  • November – Nesting boxes - on site
  • December – Christmas Gala and online auction fundraiser – on site/online

Being a volunteer-run program, we are always on the lookout for like-minded people who’d like to lend a helping hand. Our volunteer positions are open to anyone over 18 from all backgrounds and skillsets, and only requires a Working With Children’s Check (free for volunteers!). One of our main missions at Roots & Shoots is youth involvement and education, which we achieve through our EcoChamp program. Our EcoChamp program is open to any person under the age of 18 - the thinking and contribution of our Champs is invaluable!

Our presence in this area is starting to grow, but we want to spread our impact as far as we can to create an incredible network of eco warriors! We would never be able to achieve this without the incredible support of our partner organisations. If your organisation has a bulletin board, newsletter, email subscription, contact base – or even just a shop window! – we would be so grateful if you’d allow us to advertise in it. The grassroots work is always the hardest, and you’d be making a major positive contribution to our local underdog team. Another way you can support us is by making donations to the Jane Goodall Institute of Australia, or by donating items/vouchers towards the Geelong team’s silent auctions and raffles.

Looking forward to hearing from you

Thanks,

Geelong Roots & Shoots Team

Our coastal reserves are under constant pressures as populations both locally and visiting the area increase.  Barwon Coast launched our Share Our Shores campaign late 2017 to create awareness on a number of coastal issues the community has identified.  Issues identified are beach-overcrowding, littering, dogs’ off-leash, threats to wildlife and sand dune damage.
