WHERE CHILDREN LOVE TO BE

BREAKFAST CLUB

We have incredibly exciting news! As of the start of Term 2 we will be running a breakfast club from South Melbourne Park Primary School Monday to Friday mornings for all students. This is 100% free and a great opportunity to have some good food and company. The Breakfast club will run from 8:30 am – 8:50 am in the gym. Parents will need to stay with their children to supervise them during this time, the exception is any students that are signed in to TheirCare.

We are also looking for volunteers to support with handing out food and running the club! If you can offer some time and be involved please contact the office via email (south.melbourne.park.ps@edcuation.vic.gov.au) to let us know what days would be suitable to support running the club.

CAMPS, SPORTS AND EXCURSIONS FUND APPLICATIONS

The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund helps eligible families to cover the costs of school trips, camps and sporting activities. If you have a valid means-tested concession card, such as a Veterans Affairs Gold Card, Centrelink Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, or are a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible. There is also a special consideration category for asylum seeker and refugee families.

Payment amounts this year are $125 for eligible primary school students. Payments are made direct to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions and sporting activities for the benefit of your child.

If you applied for CSEF through our school last year, you do not need to complete an application form this year, unless there has been a change in your family circumstances. If you would like to apply for the first time, please contact the school office on 9498 3396 and ask for an application form. You can also download the form, and find out more about the program and eligibility, on the Department of Education and Training’s Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund web page.

Check with the school office if you are unsure, and please return completed forms to the school office as soon as possible.

SCHOOL NURSE VISIT

Alison Vickers, the Visiting Primary School Nurse from the Department of Education and Training will be attending the school during Term 2 to conduct the Prep student health assessments. The purpose of the visit is to provide all Victorian children with the opportunity to have a health assessment to link children, families and the school to relevant community services; and provide information and advice that promotes health and wellbeing.

If you have any concerns you would like to discuss with the Primary School Nurse and your child is in Prep a ‘School Entrant Health Questionnaire’ needs to be completed and returned to the school. These Questionnaires will be sent home over the coming days. Please speak to your class teacher if you need any assistance you with this. The School nurse can then contact you regarding your concerns.
