From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome to the final newsletter for 2020.  It is difficult to know where to commence considering the unpredictable year which we have all experienced!!!!!.

Firstly I would like to thank our community for the support you have given the school as we have transitioned in and out and back into remote learning throughout the year. It was a challenging time for parents, students and teachers but together we were able to continue the education journey of each student.  This was evident by how easily the students transitioned back into school life in term 4

On reflection some of the positives I took away  from  COVID included

Don’t be afraid to ask for help. ( We all need care from others)

Don’t be afraid to offer help.  (this can have a huge impact on another person)

Don’t be afraid to strive to reach your goals (challenges can bring out the best in others)

and don’t be afraid to show those around you how much you care and love them.

Secondly I would like to acknowledge the staff of St Bede's. During this world wide pandemic they were there day in day out for our students.  The staff were there if either a student or parent needed to ask a question whilst at the same time trying to protect their own family during these challenging times.

Finally congratulations to  our children. They  moved in and out of remote learning, adapting  to all that was asked of them. They pushed themselves to stay motivated even though this was difficult, mainly due to being isolated from their friends . This allowed them to continue their learning journey.  During the year it has been obvious this experience helped them mature and  grow in their appreciation of being able to come to school  to learn and socialise. Well done children!

I wish our community every blessing for this Christmas season. Be safe, have fun, and enjoy the opportunity to spend time with family and friends. For many of us who have family interstate and haven't seen them for awhile,  enjoy the opportunity to catch up.

2021 will be a new year with new experiences.  I  look forward to welcoming everyone back next year.

Carols

As you are aware this year we are unable to hold our Carols evening ( number restrictions) in the usual way.  But to keep the tradition of a Carols evening at St Bede's we will be sending every family a link to a Carols video.

I ask that you USE the zoom link below at 6pm on Monday evening.  I will speak for  a short time and then send the Carols link to all families to enjoy.  Thank you for understanding with this. Hopefully no technical issues!!!!!!!!!!

Graduation

Tonight our Yr 6s will celebrate graduation.  What a year for your final year of primary school!!!   Just a reminder  that only parents and the graduating student can attend. Please refer to the letter sent out yesterday so that all protocols can be followed. It should be a great evening.

Drop off and Pick up 2021

Arrangements  for drop off and pick up will be communicated to our families at the commencement of the 2021 school year.  At this stage drop off and pick will return to pre COVID times

Yr 6 Funfields

Last Friday the Yr. 6 children attended Funfields in Whittlesea as part of their end of year celebrations. All the feedback indicates that the children had a wonderful time.  The staff were very impressed with the way the children conducted themselves on the excursion. Well done to everyone who made the day special.
