Principal's Report

Welcome to 2021

Welcome back to school for 2021. I trust that everyone was able to enjoy a slightly slower pace over the Summer Break and feels refreshed and ready to go for the new school year.

Over the Summer I was able to get away for a week up to Lakes Entrance with Sarah and my boys (Anderson and Zach) and it was a fantastic chance to do different things as a family, time on the beach is always a winner with the kids!

Facilities Updates

It feels like the longest facilities upgrade in the history of the universe, however, our toilets have now had their upgrade over the break. Feedback from everyone is resoundingly positive and while it is not the most exciting upgrade it has made a huge improvement in the day to day lives of everyone at school.

We also have an update on our Inclusive School Grant, again approved back in 2019. This process has now moved significantly forward with works due to begin later in Term 1. We have been able to have 90% of the original design fall within budget, and the elements that we have not been able to secure were the 'cherry on top' as it were that would have been nice to have.

Once I have completed designs I will provide these to our community.  I would like to thank Jackson Taylor MP, who was able to secure the funding for both of these projects for us way back in 2019.

Staffing

It is usually at the end of the school year when I make staffing announcements, however over the Summer Break Tanya Dearsley in our office has made the decision to move on from Marlborough to enjoy new challenges. Tanya has been with Marlborough for many years as both a parent and a staff member and has made such a positive impact to our school in so many ways. Tanya will be dearly missed from our Office team as well as across the school and I would like to thank her for the contribution she has made to our school and your children over the years. Tanya will be with us until early March.

Tutor Learning Program (TLP)

We are continuing to work to set up the Tutor Learning Program, the Department of Education (DET) initiative for 2021 in response to the impact that Remote and Flexible Learning had in 2020.

Melissa Den Elzen will be our schools 'Tutor' and our funding allocation enables us to run this program 4 days a week across the year. We began the process of identifying students for this program last year and are continuing with this identification process currently.

Our work to date shows that we will have a range of students working in the TLP however this may look very different for different students. Families of students who will be part of the program will be informed of their participation and we are aiming for the TLP program to begin in Week 4, once we have finalised the program set up. Some students will begin immediately on the program, others may be scheduled to begin later in the year, again with a finite resource we are mapping out the program over the year currently to support those students who have been identified. All staff are being involved in placing students onto the TLP program with Senior Leadership making final decisions on the placement of students into the program and the timetable for the program.
