Principal's Report

Achieving Excellence Together”

WELCOME TO 2021!

It has been fantastic seeing all the smiling faces walk through our gates each morning as we begin another year at Roxburgh Park Primary School.

I hope you enjoyed a wonderful summer. I also hope you are relaxed, recharged and ready to start a new school year. I am so delighted to be part of our amazing learning community. I welcome and value your positive energy and I look forward to working with you and your children.

All signs point to another incredible and productive school year. Our skilled and devoted teachers and support staff are planned and prepared. Our enthusiastic office team is open and available to support new families, ordering needed materials and updating student files. Our hard working and conscientious custodians have spent the entire summer thoroughly cleaning the facility. And, our much-appreciated PTA is gearing up to welcome families, provide volunteer opportunities, and offer other exciting events and programs. We are indeed a joyous and caring community with the common goals of nurturing responsible, caring students and promoting high-level learning.

Change to our Specialist Program for 2021

Marissa our Italian teacher is currently on leave and we are eagerly awaiting the safe arrival of her little baby. In 2020 we were unable to find a replacement for our 2021 Italian program while Marissa is away. For 2021 we are offering performing arts as a specialist subject to replace Italian. This temporary program is being delivered by Ms Paloma Legris.

New Staff

Each year brings positive change. This includes a few additions to our staff. We are delighted to welcome two new members to our Leadership Team.

Meet Belinda Perera - Leading teacher - Teaching, learning and wellbeing

Hi Everyone! My name is Belinda Perera and I’m thrilled to be joining the Roxburgh Park Primary School Community as a Leading Teaching. I have been teaching for over 25 years and have a passion for Literacy and teaching Reading.

In my own time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, long walks on the beach and Zumba. I look forward to meeting you all and starting our exciting learning journey in 2021.

Meet Fiona Briggs - Learning Specialist - P-2 Inclusion Leader & Grade 2B Teacher

Hello Roxburgh Park Primary School Community, my name is Fiona Briggs. I have been a teacher for 20 years, mostly in the junior levels and love working with children. This year I will be working at the school full time, 2 days in Grade 2 and 3 days as an Inclusion Learning Specialist. Literacy and intervention is a passion of my so I'm very excited to have this opportunity. I look forward to meeting you all in the near future.

COVID Safety Plan

I’d like to remind families that although Victorians have done a marvellous job at keeping community transition of the virus low, we are still required to practice COVID Safe strategies as part of our COVID Safe Plan.

Pick UP and Drop OFF:

The school day begins at 8:50am for all students and our teachers will be in their rooms to welcome students at the start of each school day. The school grounds will be supervised from 8:30am.

The school day finishes at 3:10pm. Students will be dismissed from their classrooms, with teacher supervision at each access point gates. The following access points will remain to support families during pick up and drop off.

We ask that families adhere to physical distancing measures, maintaining 1.5 metres between each other as far as is practical at the start and end of the school day.

Access to the School Grounds:

Parents and carers are welcome to enter the school grounds. Parents MUST NOT enter classrooms due to gathering restrictions, however, are welcome to drop off and pick-up children from their classroom outside doors. Parents and carer are asked to exit the school once they have dropped off or collected their children as soon as possible.

If you are attending the school for a meeting please come via the office to sign in (all visitors who remain onsite for more than 15 minutes MUST sign-in)

Leaving Early: (reminder)

If you need to collect your child during the school day, you MUST first report to the school office.

Student will only be permitted to leave early for medical/dental reasons or extreme special circumstances.

NO CHILD WILL BE DISMISSED BETWEEN 2.45-3.10pm.

Drinking fountains:

The use of drinking fountains in school is now permitted. However, our students are still encouraged to bring their own individual drink bottle that can be refilled in the classroom.

Face Masks:

All visitors (including parents coming onsite at drop off and pick-up times) are required to carry a mask. All adults are required to wear a mask when social distancing cannot be achieved (this applies indoors and outdoors).

Assemblies:

Unfortunately due to number restrictions, parents are unable to attend school assemblies onsite. Whole school assemblies will commence in Week 3 in the Mark Thompson Gym. All students will attend together with teaching staff. Assemblies will be live streamed for parents to watch on-line. Details and link will be posted on SENTRAL closer to the date.

Thank you once again for your ongoing support understanding. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me via email: principal@roxburghparkps.vic.edu.au

Looking forward to a year full of respect, learning and Co-operation!!!
