From the Principal

Celebrating all things great at the Grove.

Welcome to the Grove 2021

The school year started last week with a short week, which I'm sure was a nice way to ease back into the year for all.  I wish to welcome all our new families to the school, we have a beautiful group of prep students with some first time parents learning to navigate the school system.  We are all here to support you & please reach out if you need anything.

We have also welcomed some new staff to the school this year.

Mrs. Allison in Yr 2

Hello Glenore Grove State School.  My name is Karen Allison and this year I am teaching class 2A.  My husband (yes, Mr Allison, your previous Schools Officer) and I have been living in the Lockyer Valley since 2004.  We have two sons, aged 13 and 9.  At home, we enjoy cooking together, reading and watching movies.  We love spending time at the beach and often take our caravan away on school holidays.  I am really looking forward to spending 2021 at Glenore Grove.

Mrs. Bartlett as our new Guidance Officer

I moved over to Australia in 2003 from South Africa. I was a support teacher / Literacy Coach in Brisbane for 9 years before moving out to live in Mount Sylvia and have been a support teacher at LDSS since then. I completed my Master in Education: Guidance and Counselling at the end of 2019.

I am looking forward to this new challenge and hope that I will be an asset to your school.

Drop off & Pick up time

I shared a letter last week regarding processes for this each day.  Please see it attached here again for your reference.

I have noticed that some people are still not following these processes.  On Friday afternoon I witnessed parents still doing u-turns along Brightview Rd & students crossing the road alone & without stopping to check for traffic.  Children under the age of 10 should always have an adult to help them cross the road.  The island crossing is not a pedestrian crossing & you should not expect that cars are going to stop for you.  Parents using drop off & pick up zone to move as far forward as possible.

If parents can not adhere to these safety procedures the police may be called to monitor the drop off & pick up times.

Please spend some time reading the attached parent road safety booklet.  I have a meeting with the council & main roads to look at further plans for safety next week.
