From the Principal

I can't seem to find strong enough words to convey the deep gratitude I have for our parent/carer body this year. Thank you for the myriad ways you have supported the College. Our strong partnership augurs well for 2021.

Over many, many years the College has had a fabulous Parents and Friends' Association. When Catholic schools received no government funding, and more recently when funding was grossly insufficient, their collective efforts were to raise much needed funds for the College. As family life has become so busy, the proposition of meeting of an evening every few weeks has become more difficult and our P&F had dwindled to a small group who carried the work of many. I am incredibly grateful for their work over my time at the College and we are indebted to them for many of the beautiful things our College has, including the Kinder playground, a grand piano, an electric kiln, the leadlight windows in the Chapel and sporting equipment.

After consultation and reimagining, a new parent group will be launched next year. While the group will evolve with the parents and carers who are part of it, it’s focus will be on community spirit. We will have a 'welcome to the academic year' event for families early in Term 1, as well as Mother's Day and Father's Day Breakfasts. We have moved away from the committee meeting style that very few families have the capacity to support, and instead towards encouraging families to support a community-building action or an event during the year. This hopefully will spread the load and ensure we still have avenues to come together as a community. The levy, previously called the Parents & Friends' levy, of $20 per family, will remain. That fund will support the community events and any remaining funds will be spent in the calendar year on a project/s prioritised by parents. There will be no fundraising for the College anymore. Our Community Relations Manager, Shelley Medhurst will manage the group and a naming competition will be held early in 2021. Stay tuned!

More than ever, we need the peace, hope, joy and love of the Christ-child at Christmas. It is an important time to connect with a parish. You can find your local parish and then Mass times here.
