It is a privilege to return to the Principal Class Team for the remainder of the term. I am enjoying the opportunity to be more directly involved in the Curriculum.  All aspects of every staff member's  job is about ensuring we deliver or support the delivery of the best possible, and most suitable curriculum for your child. We endeavour to do that by developing individual plans for each student.

2021 Semester 1 Personalised Learning Support Plans

On April 1st, you will be receiving your child's Personalised Learning Support Plans (PLSP) for Semester 1 via email.

The JSA Curriculum offers flexibility for teachers to tailor their teaching in ways that provide rigorous, relevant and engaging learning and assessment opportunities for all students. Students will engage with the curriculum with the necessary reasonable adjustments made to the Victorian Curriculum content and how students demonstrate their knowledge, skills and understanding.

PLSPs include one goal for each Mode/Strand of the English, Mathematics, Personal & Social Capabilities and Critical &Creative Thinking Learning Areas.

Please see table below:

The PLSP process provides a structure for ensuring all students are engaged in the classroom curriculum. If you would like to discuss your child's PLSP goals with your classroom teacher, please arrange an SSG meeting before the end of Term 1.

Remote and Flexible Learning.

We have just had a short taste of a return to remote and flexible learning during the lockdown this week. Realistically, COVID will be around for most of this year while the vaccine is being progressively distributed to the population. Consequently, we need to be prepared for further periods when for the safety of all Victorians we may need further lockdowns to reduce the transmission of COVID.

Last year we used a combination of technology and hard copies to deliver remote learning however with short notice using technology is the most efficient way of continuing your child's education.   I was most impressed with the two way communication that occurred between home and school using the Seesaw platform. If you are a new parent to the school please communicate with your teacher to gain access to Seesaw.

Most families had access to computers or iPad's to support their child's education. If this is not the case, can you contact me and we will set up some suitable technology for borrowing. Denise.Clarke@education.vic.gov.au

As  your child's first teacher, you have been educating them by reading books and stories, discussing family photos, teaching them to play games at home, learn about nature by creating gardens, caring for pets and teaching them family responsibilities e.g. making their own bed, putting away toys, completing tasks such as setting the table.  If we have further lockdowns, these informal activities can continue. Planning a day's schedule where there are work times, play times and "down" times will make everyone's time at home more predictable and  enjoyable.
