Inviting Students @ BMGS
The new projects for the STEM Co-curricular sessions will commence at BMGS in Week 3. The sessions run in Room AD4 starting at 3:15pm each Wednesday afternoon.
If you are interested in participating please see Mr. Harrison or Mr. Olmos as soon as possible to sign up. We have a limited number of spots available due to the unique projects we run each term and preferences will be given to students in STAGE 4 i.e. (Years 7 and 8).
The new project for Term 1 will be hydraulics. Students will be building a hydraulic arm that operates with the use of water. For those students who are new to STEM projects, a guideline to what is involved is described below.
A STEM project should:
- Include problem solving mentality using real life scenarios where possible
- Have students working collaboratively to solve problems, as opposed to strictly remembering facts
- Support growth mindset learning strategies as students fail and then try again to complete all parts of the project until they succeed
- Build resilience into the mindsets of the students as failure is considered OK i.e. a bump in the road onto the highway of success
See you in STEM!
