ADF Families Update

Dear Families,

This term has presented some challenges for the entire College community with the onset of Covid 19 and the need to remote learn.  Given the situation, the ADF student program has needed to adapt to the changing circumstances.  So that you are clear about things from both a welfare and learning perspective it is my intention to conduct video links to all students in the program.  This will entail discussing with your sons and daughters their academic progress along with any problems that they may be encountering with accessing Technology, Teacher engagement and Welfare concerns.

I have created a TEAM site on Microsoft Teams, this has ideas about ANZAC Day given the cancellation of planned events.  On this site students can access word puzzles and study tips that may prove useful in isolation.

For any major concerns you can contact me via email or if it is something more external you can contact Mrs Aileen Kris at Defence.

Update for those families who have moved to Viewbank in the last 18 months and have accessed tutoring.

Under current policy there are other options available for members currently approved for face-to-face tutoring continuing lessons; extending their 18 month eligibility period and accessing web-based tutoring services:

  • Face-to-face tuition also includes tutoring sessions provided via on-line video conferencing applications such as skype, zoom etc.
  •  Face-to-face tutoring time limits can be extended.  If a member’s 18 month period from the date their child commenced at the new school is due to expire within the next 3 months, a 6 month extension is available.
  • Members currently approved to receive face-to face tuition are able to switch to web-based tuition, however any amounts paid for face-to-face sessions already undertaken are subtracted from the maximum limits that may be reimbursed for web-based tutoring.
  • The member may be paid for the cost of a subscription to a web-based tutoring service but may not be paid for computer software or hardware costs or internet access costs.

To request an extension; for more information on web-based tutoring or to enquire about Education Assistance Scheme entitlements, please contact education.supportprograms@defence.gov.au

Keep safe,

Regards

Michael Walton
