Year 7 Reading Challenge
At the end of last term we launched our Year 7 Reading Challenge. Each class has a jar and students can earn tokens for their class for each book (or 5 graphic fiction books) they read. The competition runs until CBCA’s book week (which has been postponed to term 4 this year) and there are class and individual prizes to be won.
During remote learning, students can keep logging their books through Stile or by emailing us (vbclibary@viewbank.vic.edu.au). We are missing seeing the Year 7s for their library classes so it has been great to hear about what everyone has been reading!
The library online
The library has a number of resources to support students while they are studying remotely:
- We are answering questions by email at vbclibrary@viewbank.vic.edu.au
- The library website includes links to e-resources for study, and a guide to developing effective research skills
- The Keep Reading guide has information on finding e-books and audiobooks for class and recreational reading (e.g. the Wheelers e-platform).
- We’ll be using our library blog to share information about books and library services and to create virtual displays. Our latest post has ideas for how to commemorate Anzac Day this year.
Library borrowing and overdues
Due dates for books borrowed at the end of term 1 have been extended to 20 July, and students will not receive overdue notices during term 2.
