VCAL Foodbank Excursion

VCAL FOODBANK VOLUNTEERING
On Monday the 13th of August, six VCAL students volunteered their time to help support Foodbank.
Chloe L, Brooke S, Emma W, Kiara W, Abbey and Jess B accompanied by Mr. Warhurst and Ms. Trewin trekked down to Yarraville to the picking and packing facility. The students worked the day away in pairs to pick and pack food items for struggling Victorians.
The students’ efforts helped support 20 charities across the state by packing their food orders. Altogether, Staughton College packed 8487 kg of food orders, equivalent to approximately 15276 meals for our community. 15276 meals is the equivalent of feeding a family of 4, 3 meals a day for nearly three and a half years!
All efforts were greatly appreciated and the students not only got a lot out of the day but learnt a lot about a real community issues.
