Principal's Report

Principal's Report
Last week we held our biannual Variety Show. The Variety Show is held on the off years from the Whole School Production. At Staughton we are keen for students to be able to follow their talents and interests. We have developed a strong history of successful events in the performing arts in doing this.
The Variety Show is student driven, where lots of acts are developed around a central theme. This year acts were devised around the theme of a circus ‘Staughton’s Greatest Variety Showcase’, loosely based on the film ‘The Greastest Showman’ . I was amazed at the depth and breadth of excellent performances on both nights. There was something for everyone from intense vocal performances to not so intense comedic numbers.
The show was ably held together by Ringmaster Oliver Mordaunt in conjunction with his co-performing arts captains Shaylyn Camilleri and Chelsea Lapsley. Student leadership has become a real feature of our college. This was clear for all to see in the preparation for this show. Oliver, Shaylyn and Chelsea helped develop a tight bond between the performers, maintaining enthusiasm and pushing them to greater heights of performance.
The hard work and dedication of many staff was also vital to the success of the show. In particular Sandie Hardiman and Shelby Thompson put in a power of work with students leaders to ensure the performances came together. All staff involved did a magnificent job in building trust and relationships with, and between, the performers. I was very proud of all our performers and staff on the night.
