Principal's Report

Dear Collingwood College Community,
End of term already! I wish you all a safe and happy holiday with family and friends. A few things from us before we depart for the break . . .
Leadership/Staffing
You will see a familiar face for the first two weeks of Term 4. Dale returns in my absence while I am in China for the Victorian Young Leaders in China Program (VYLCP). Upon my return, Dale will take leave for the remainder of Term 4. Assume no staffing structure changes (in leadership) as part of this process. This applies to both the Primary and Secondary school.
We wish Bernice Ryan Cruze the best of wishes as she takes a thoroughly deserved trip in Term 4 as Long Service Leave. Jess Rebeiro steps in as her replacement for this time.
In other news our much-loved Business Manager, Martina Owen has accepted a promotion and is moving to Cranbourne East Primary School (provisional period). Martina officially starts next term, still connected to Collingwood College, but will slowly be increasing her days at the new site until we have found a suitable replacement. Collingwood College has benefited enormously throughout Martina’s tenure. Administration at Collingwood College has never been in such good order. On both a personal and professional note, we are sad to see Martina leave but very happy for her in finding greener pastures. We all wish Martina all the very best!
Spring Fair
Every year I think the Spring Fair gets better and better. This year is no exception.
We witnessed several new innovative changes, such as going cashless and aiming for zero waste. All feedback on the day and in summary have been wonderfully positive!
Concerning the fundraising, the total revenue was $35,806, with more money coming late today through the online auction. After expenses, we expect that this puts us slightly above last year in terms of profit. That is we are expecting a profit of 16k +
A terrific result for BES who will be able to spend on the revamp of the junior school play area as announced in my correspondence last week.
A huge thank you to all involved, particularly the big players including family. I’m running the risk of forgetting someone, apologies in advance… Kylie, Donna, Kathy Miller, Jeremy, Maya, Cath S, Geoff, CAS, Liria, Judith, Margaret, Campbell, SC members, SRC, Green team, front office staff as well as class carers and many other families. It doesn’t come together without effort from all. Let’s not forget our fantastic and dedicated staff as well as our students!
VYCLP Victorian Young Leaders in China Program
They departed last Friday!!! All participants are having an amazing experience with Dale and Rosie - very safe and very happy! The WeChat group chatter is constantly filled with chatter and pictures of the experience. Other staff will be joining the team in the holidays. Stay tuned for pictures, etc of such a great trip!
Sports Stadium
I am delighted to share the news that the Stadium will be officially 'ours' from the 20th October with the first day of access for students, teachers and families Monday 21st. Please stay tuned for announcements about openings, working bees and celebrations throughout Term 4. Both the Senior and P-10 Art shows will be held in the new space. More info to come.
Intentions for 2020
We are currently engaging in careful planning for the 2020 school year. Knowing the number of students who will be enrolled at Collingwood College for the following year is crucial in the development of our funding models, structure and recruitment of teaching staff.
If you are not returning to Collingwood College next year, we ask that you notify us as soon as possible.
Upcoming Information - School Performance Reports
Next Term, we look forward to sharing with you the results of the Parent Opinion Survey, the Attitudes to School Survey (students) and the NAPLAN 2019 testing program. These sets of data help us to evaluate our growth over the last 12 months and develop school improvement actions.
Front Oval correspondence.
We will be organising a briefing to outline our decision making process when I return from China. It appears that parents have not received my communications through compass over the last few weeks. I’m hoping this is a technical issue, rather than parent contact details being out of date. That said, what a great time to remind you that it's essential we have your most recent contact details on the system. Compass is our preferred mode of communication, and we would hate to think you are missing out on key information.
Previous correspondence should you be interested can be found here;

I wish you a safe and enjoyable holiday and look forward to seeing you soon.
All the best and a BIG GO CATS tonight!!!!
Sam Luck
