Building Update

I am pleased to announce that Fairbrother is the construction company which has been awarded the tender for our building works. Fairbrother is based in regional Victoria (including an office in Bendigo) and Tasmania, and they were the builders of our Engineers’ Precinct.  As you can see from their website - www.fairbrother.com.au - Fairbrother have extensive experience in building schools.

For more details about the excellent facilities that are about to be developed, I encourage you to view the project details via the Victorian School Buildings Authority’s website:

https://www.schoolbuildings.vic.gov.au/schools/Pages/CastlemaineSecondaryCollege.aspx

Please be aware that parking along Lawson Parade will be more congested during the building process since many staff will be required to use the street parking on Lawson Parade while one of our two staff car parks is closed. Pedestrian access into the school will also be restricted since the main pedestrian gate on Lawson Parade will be closed. I encourage parents to consider using the Blakeley Road entrance to the school for student drop-off and pick-up during the building process. If you do choose to continue using Lawson Parade please be careful not to block driveways or local residents and not to use the staff carpark as a drop-off and pick-up point.

Please take the time to have a look at our newly refurnished website.

School Review

Our four-yearly School Review process has been happening over the past few weeks.  The School Review panel has been visiting the school to speak with staff and students and to observe classes.  Recommendations arising from this Review will provide key directions for our next four-year Strategic Plan, which will be developed in Term 4.

Special recognition for two staff members

Recently two of our teachers have been recognised for their long service in the Department of Education and Training (DET). Cathy Naimo was presented with an award by Education Minister, James Merlino, for 50 years of service. Many of these years of service have been spent in Castlemaine at the former Technical College and more recently, CSC. Cathy is a former Assistant Principal at CSC, and after a brief “retirement” she has been our VET co-ordinator for several years.

Last week, Alan Stewart was also presented with a special award recognizing his 35 years of service to the DET. Alan has spent the last of these 10 years as an inspiring teacher of Humanities at CSC.
