Year 11 Psychology Melbourne Museum Excursion

On the 29th of October the Year 11 Psychology students had the opportunity to visit Melbourne Museum and experiences the ‘Illusions and Perceptions trail’.

The students furthered their understanding of Unit 2, Area of Study 1 – What influences a person’s perception of the world? and Area of Study 2 – How are people influenced to behave in particular ways?

“In ‘The Mind: Enter the Labyrinth’ exhibition, the students undertook curriculum-linked enquiries designed to provoke deeper learning”. This was made possible through direct experience with the Illusions created in the exhibition. The students thoroughly enjoyed this hands-on experience and were able to have a better grasp on these concepts learnt in the classroom.

My experience at the museum was wonderful. I’ve gained a lot of knowledge about the mind and body - Leilua Faleafa

My experience during the museum visit was that I was able to further understand what we learnt in class, thanks for the interactive activities - Charisa Te

It was really good to see what we have learnt in class in the real world. – Masuma Ghulami

Year 7 Scienceworks Excursion

On Friday November 2, 2018, 139 Year 7 students attended Scienceworks to learn about seasons, day/night and watched “Tilt” at the Planetarium.

Our students must be roecognised for their exemplary behaviour on the day. Whilst at Scienceworks, a member of public approached me and wanted to commend our students. She told me that her child was attempting to pull a rope to get the highest force output. A group of HPSC students were there and were very encouraging. They supported, urged and cheered this child to try their very best.

Overall, it was a great day. Our students had a lot of fun and would remember this excursion for the rest of their lives.
