Robbie Kearns Shield

On October 22nd we took ten Year 7-9  boys to compete in the Under 14s Robbie Kearns Shield tournament. We managed to survive Ms Pearts’ mini bus driving in peak hour whilst the boys were singing at the top of their lungs to some country ballads. The draw was in our favour as the strongest team in the competition who train with a professional coach were in Pool A, we were more than happy to be a part of Pool B.  

 

With VJ as our captain nothing could stop us. His coaching on the field, polite and kind nature provided fantastic role modelling for the other boys who also represented the college in a brilliant and respectful manner.

 

After winning 3 games in our pool, it was time for the grand final. It was try for try until the very end, where Vetea basically carried 8 players from the other team over the line with him without flinching, and two incredibly quick tries were made by Owen in Year 7 in the last three minutes of the day  to win us the flag!

We are off to the State finals in Broadmeadows next. If you see any of the following players please congratulate them on their performance, teamwork and good sportsmanship today:
