Again a doom-and-gloom weather forecast of 10mm of rain and strong wind had Dendy organisers in a spin the night before this Cricket Blast tournament….. But thankfully; come 8am, the weather radar looked more favourable and in the end, for the majority of the day it WAS rain free! Phew….

Our six teams played three or four games of T20 cricket over the day, enjoying lots of fun partnership innings with their teammates against the other Dendy District schools.  All teams managed a few wins and losses over the day (one team won all games), with De La Salle winning the All Star Boys division and St. Joan of Arc winning the All Star Girls division.

A HUGE thank you to our parents; Bec Schlittler, Liz Hanrahan, Russel Withers and Bill Symes for their amazing support with the teams over the day.  Thank you also to our attending staff; Pat Berlingeri, Caitlin Liels, Matt Callery, Peggy McDonald and Sue Humble for coaching and managing the students as well.

Here’s a recount of the day from one of our Year 6’s:

The biggest thing I liked about the day was that everyone was giving it their best. You could see that people’s skills were improving over the day. A highlight was when my batting partner and me made 60 runs in an over.  It was great to see some other people I knew from other schools as well.  Overall it was a great day and we would like to thank all the parents, teachers and the Melbourne Stars Cricket Association who helped make the day happen.

PLEASE take the time to look through your Year 3-6’s wardrobe and find any overlooked St. Finbar’s sports singlets.  Could they be washed, air dried and handed in at the office ASAP please.

THANK YOU!
