National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) - Young Writers Program
Nearly half a million people around the world set aside time in November to write their creative stories and this included some of our students at Aitken College. It was all part of National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo—a creative writing project aimed at getting people of all ages to try drafting an entire novel in just one month.
Weekly meetings were held in the Learning Centre to encourage writers to check in, cheer each other on, and discuss technique and share ideas. Students (or Novelists if I may call them that) wrote directly on the NaNoWriMo website (or in a separate document), finding inspiration in the novelling resources offered.
Congratulations goes to Amy G in Year 6 for meeting 100% of her word count goal, writing 1625 words.
And, special congratulations goes to our youngest writer, Kisali P in Year 3 who worked consistently during the entire month of November. Meeting 100% of her word count goal she managed to write 2485 words which exceeded the word count for her year level.
