Good Times!
I am hoping that at this spiritual time of the year, we are encouraged to stop and reflect. Today, I had the opportunity to share many of my favourite images of 2018; in the reflection of celebrating the Year 2 students’ achievements in Fairview. There were many images of the children sharing moments together; representing their joy and excitement of their friendship and community.
We want children to learn and achieve, however, most importantly be safe and happy! Young children have a beautiful ability to see good in all and to enjoy the moment. They do not need to stop and reflect; they live the moment and share their blessings. It then becomes our responsibility to stop, share and celebrate the treasures the children bring to our lives.
Christmas Reflection
During our Religion and Values Education lessons we focused on the meaning of Christmas, also that it is a time to reflect and thank God for our blessings. It is also a time of forgiveness and learning to accept each other for our differences.
Our reflection on Love, Joy, Hope and Peace has been focusing on our ability to focus on the Spirit of Christmas, and the children are happy to share their feelings. We have encouraged children to gain the true understanding of Christian events, as it is crucial they do not get caught up in the commercial representation. It is worthwhile talking to your children about the spirit of Christmas and the birth of our saviour, Jesus Christ.
Christmas Service & Final Assembly
The Fairview Final Assembly and Christmas Service was interactive and reflective for the children! The Final Assembly for 2018 held many cherished memories as the children celebrated 3 years in Fairview. The involvement from our entire community captivated the true meaning of Christmas. It was lovely to see a large number of parents and grandparents in attendance and sharing this time with us all.
Thank you
We also take this opportunity to thank Ms Lanagan for her wonderful work and commitment and wish her all the best at her new school. We also wish Miss McAllister a wonderful adventure in 2019, as she works in Darwin for 12 months. Jody Basso has been part of the Out of Hours School community from 2005 and has taken on many roles as a carer to the current co-ordinator. She is moving to a new school closer to home and we thank her for care and nurturing attention to our children. During Term 1 in 2019, Mrs Gilbert is taking Long Service Leave and we hope she enjoys this time with her family.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
I thank all the Fairview parents, staff and children for their hard work and commitment. Our community is extremely supportive and is always available to support each other. The parent community is an integral part of our school and I am proud of its strength and growth.
May you have a blessed Christmas and that the New Year brings you all lots of rest and happiness. God Bless!
