Classroom News - Year 1

Welcome back to Term 4

Year 1 has had a great start to term 4 with Mr Mackson and Miss Limen, Mrs Flynn has arrived back this week too after her pilgrimage to Ireland.

For the first part of this term, Year 1 will be learning about Creation in Religion and have made some excellent lions!

This week will see us beginning to learn Set 12 of our Tricky words. Please read and write these each week with your child to help them to consolidate what they are learning in class. It is also a good idea to revise previous sets of tricky words too. These can all be found in the back of our reading diaries. Please remember to fill diaries in when reading at home and all Home Readers come in on Thursdays and are changed over then and sent home again Thursday afternoons. Sometimes students forget to bring them in on Thursdays and return them on other days however they can not always be returned the same day if this happens.

In mathematics, we have been working with multiplication and division and making groupings of items.

We have been using the story called "Magic Beach" written by Alison Lester in our work in drama.

Silly Socks and Coinline on Thursday

Just a reminder to wear Silly socks with uniforms tomorrow and to bring in as many coins as possible so that Year 1 will have the longest coinline! All money brought in will go to Catholic Mission Appeal.
