Equestrian
During the school holidays St. Joseph’s inaugural Equestrian Team competed in the Equestrian Australia Interschool Qualifier held at the Elmore Equestrian Centre.
Our students and their mounts looked amazing in their green and white gear including the St. Joseph’s College saddle blankets and fancy browbands on their horses.
The competition was held over two days, with students entering disciplines suited to their mounts and experience. This is a qualifier for the State event, where students need to place in at least two qualifying competitions to advance to the State level later in the year.
A big congratulations to all of the team. You have paved the way for hopefully many more Equestrian events for our School in the future!
Charlie Alberni – 3rd and 4th in Dressage and 6th in Combined Training.

Senior Boys Football
On Tuesday 17th of July, the Senior Boys Football Team travelled to Kerang to play Mackillop College, Swan Hill. This game was the second stage of the Sun Country Cup tournament. During Term 2 our team had won the first stage that was played against four different teams in the Echuca region. This allowed us to progress to play the winner of the Swan Hill region.
The game was low scoring with great pressure from both teams. There was a swirling breeze that was going across the ground but favoured one end for most of the game.
At half time St. Joseph's were four points up. The boys had not made the most of opportunities kicking one goal four behinds in the second quarter and having most of the play.
Kicking to the non-scoring end in the third quarter St. Joseph's continued to have most of the play and converted better this time. We went into three quarter time - up by eight points.
The last quarter was a see-sawing affair. The pressure around the football was intense and both teams had multiple scoring opportunities. St. Joseph's lead for the whole quarter up until the last minute when Mackillop scored a goal to put themselves up by three points.
The St. Joseph's boys couldn’t get it back in time and ended up losing by three points.
Best players for the day: Jack Evans, Jack McHale, Leo O’Brien, Matt Lias and Zac McGregor.
