Principal's Report 

Term 1 Week 2

 

Welcome back. The school year has started smoothly with all the students settling well and starting to learn. Normal programs have already started . MACC van is every  2nd Wednesday this year with our first session last  Wednesday with both Sandra and Hanna taking a group. Italian with Peg is every Wednesday.  Bluearth program started today with our new Bluearth instructor Ross Hill. They had a great session learning an d playing new activities. The Marc van( library)will be at the school every second Tuesday starting next week.The swimming program has begun with the children swimming each Thursday and Friday afternoon while the weather is warm.

 

STUDENT ENVIRONMENT LEADERSHIP PROGRAM (SELP)

On Tuesday the 4-6 children will travel to Whitfield to work with the other cluster schools to learn about sustainability. The Student Environmental Leadership Program (SELP) is designed to let students inner leader shine and help them develop and deliver sustainability projects.

The SELP incursions are designed to provide your students with the knowledge and skills to become leaders in their school and community. An expert mentor from CERES will guide the students through leadership training, problem solving, research and completion of a waste audit.

The day will include four 1-hour sessions structured as follows: 

1.            Explore and learn about your chosen sustainability theme (water, waste, energy or biodiversity).

2.            Complete a school audit to find out what’s happening at your school.

3.            Create an action plan to create change at your school.

4.            Design and build a project to improve sustainability at your school

 

The camps for 1st Semester

Sailing Camp 

The year 6 students are off on a sailing camp on the 3-7th March in Rye to learn how to sail. This camp is a great opportunity to learn how to sail in Port Phillip Bay and to meet and know all the year 6 students in the cluster.

Somers Camp

The first 9 days of Term 2 the Year 5&6 students have the opportunity to go to the Somers Camp with other Year 5&6 students from the Wangaratta district.

Outdoor Camp

The Year 3 &4 students will have their outdoor camp at the 15 Mile Creek camp during term 2.
