Playgroup & Storytime

Playgroup
Every Monday and Wednesday morning at 9.15am we are joined by an energetic team of pre-schoolers who come along to enjoy the fun and frivolity of our playgroup.
The action packed sessions run for 45 minutes and involve an open indoor play time, a craft activity, a snack time, an outdoor play, a song (complete with bubbles), a story and a stamp to say goodbye.
These sessions are a great time for children from birth to Kinder age to come together to socialise, practise their language and learn about sharing and playing together. The program also provides a glimpse of what it is like at kindergarten and school, but most of all it provides heaps of fun, playing with other children.
The parents and grandparents who come along have a great time too. It's a chance to share a biscuit and a cuppa and get to know a few more people in our community. And the running around usually means a good naptime in the afternoon too. -- not sure if I am referring to the adults or the toddlers here ;)
This term, KPS parents Melinda Woodworth, Amy Davis, and Tammy Bryson have partnered with staff members Jenny Fantin and Wendy Turner to lead the playgroup. Wendy prepares the craft activity and Jenny oversees the program, but it is Mel, Amy and Tammy who are the stars of the show. We are very grateful to all three for their commitment to the program and willingness to serve our school community in this way. Thank you!
There are still a few spaces left in each session so if you were interested in becoming involved please contact the school office on 9725 4320.
Bookaburra Storytime
Another fantastic activity time that we are offering for pre-schoolers in our community is our Bookaburra Storytime sessions on Thursday mornings at 9.15am-10am.
These sessions are delivered by trained Bookaburra volunteers, provided by the Yarra Ranges Council.
The sessions include a number of interactive stories and a craft activity. Parents stay with their child and join in the fun. It is a terrific opportunity to develop literacy skills and a love of reading from a young age.
Bookaburra sessions are FREE. Please contact the school office on 9725 4320 for more details.
