SubWay, our new lunch order supplier
We are very pleased to announce that we have made arrangements with the Kilsyth Subway store to provide our lunch orders.
The Subway School Lunch Order Program is an initiative that has been taken up by schools in our local area, around the state and around the globe. Subway have committed to providing a healthy menu, that is both nutritious and appealing to young people and that meets all health and safety regulations.
Starting ON FRIDAYS in Term 2, students will be able to order , using a cash and envelope system on the morning of the order (pre-ordering is possible, but not necessary).
Students will be able to order"
A Sandwich (6" Sub) $4.00
- With the choice of white/wheat six inch sub or a wrap
- Choices of cheese and meat (Ham, Chicken, Roast Beef, Turkey or Vegie Sub)
- Choice of Salads (Lettuce, Tomato, Carrot and Cucumber) and
- Sauces (Mayonnaise, BBQ, Tomato, or Honey Mustard)
And Sides $0.50 each
- Apple, Yoghurt or Cookie
- Drink (low sugar Apple Juice, Calci Yum Milk or Water)
So that is a complete lunch for $5.
You may choose to 'upsize' your order to a foot-long sub for an extra $2.
We are pleased that Subway meets the requirements we set (based on your feedback) and will provide healthy meals for our students at a very reasonable price and allow parents to pay with cash, on the day .
The Subway School Lunch Order Program was has built into it fundraising opportunities for schools. Officially, the price of the sandwich is set at $5 with the complete lunch coming to a total of $6. Subway would the donate $1 for each order back to the school. As a School Council we acknowledge the great support our parent community already provide in terms of fundraising and have decided to forgo the donation to the school, reducing the overall cost and passing the savings on to parents.
Order slips and a notice explaining the process further will be sent home before the end of term so all families will be prepared for the new process to begin in July.
As we did with Miss Peppercorn, there will be a review of the process and experience of ordering through Subway after 6 months to determine if we continue with the service next year.
