WHAT'S NEW IN THE JUNIOR LIBRARY?

Stand Beautiful, is a fun Picture book based on Psalm 139:14 “How You made me is amazing and wonderful. I praise You for that. What You have done is wonderful.”

Written by teen TedX speaker and CURE.org ambassador Chloe Howard, this book encourages readers to embrace their own uniqueness and celebrate the differences in others.

The Extra Special Baby: The Story of the Christmas Promise is a beautifully illustrated Christmas Picture book, full of warmth, which focusses on Jesus.

In Backyard, Australian author Ananda Braxton-Smith and fine artist Lizzy Newcomb team up to present a lush, lyrical Picture book about all the life that Australian children can find in a suburban backyard.

The Incredible Cabinet or Wonders – 100 little doors to the Weird and Wonderful from the World’s Great Museums is a Non Fiction Lonely Planet Kids book.

It’s time to peek inside the world’s most famous museums. 12 collectors, from toy makers and monster hunters to sailors and archaeologists, have created their own themed cabinets and filled them with their favourite things. Children can lift the flaps to discover 100 extraordinary objects from the past and present then read fascinating stories behind each one.

The Happiness Box is a remarkable new Picture book, about a remarkable old book. The Happiness Box was created in December 1942 by Australian prisoners of war as a Christmas present for children interned in Changi Prison in Singapore.

The book was written to chase away fear and give hope, but was then buried in order to protect it from being destroyed by the Japanese army. After the war, the book was dug up and declared a National Treasure. It now sits displayed in the State Library of New South Wales for all to see.

The Happiness Box, written by Mark Greenwood and Andrew McLean is the story of The Happiness Box. Greenwood’s simple yet descriptive text, together with McLean’s sketch-like illustrations makes a perfect partnership to tell this true tale with dignity and honour.  kids-bookreview.com
