Junior School

Junior School Report

It has been a fantastic start to Term 2 with students participating in a number of activities both inside and outside the classroom.  It has especially been great to see an increased number of students participating in inter-school sport competitions including netball, badminton, and cross-country.  We thank those students who were able to return their permission forms and payment before the due date, and encourage all students to continue to do this for upcoming excursions.

KIOSC Visit

On Friday May 17, the Year 8 students had the opportunity to visit KIOSC and learn more about Science and Technology. Throughout the day, we studied a number of new topics with a specific focus on coding and connecting wires, and LED’s through the work of technology. One of the highlights we had was when the teaching staff at KIOSC taught us the language of coding and gave us independence to problem-solve and work things out on our own. They also gave us information about engineering and coding, and the impact that it is having in our daily lives. It was fantastic to learn about the complexities of coding and engineering, and learn about the plethora of job opportunities that may be available to us in the future.

We would like to thank the teachers especially Ms Manioudakis and Mr Czuchnowski, as without them we would not have had the opportunity to achieve new things and express our creativity outside of the classroom environment.

Semester Exams

Year 9 students will be required to undertake exams for both Maths and English which will take place during normal class time on the following dates:

Year 9 English Exam: Thursday 6 June

Year 9 Maths Exam: Friday 7 June

These exams will provide students with the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the process of both preparing and sitting exams.

Tips on preparing for exams:

  • Ensure that you have a quiet learning space at home, away from any possible distractions.
  • Identify potential ‘problem’ areas and seek teacher feedback on how to improve.
  • Organise a study group with your friends. This could take place during homework club on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • Ensure you get sufficient sleep, and eat a healthy breakfast the morning of the exam.

Semester 1 Reports

Report writing day will take place on Friday 14 June, and therefore students will not be expected at the College on that day. Students are encouraged to thoroughly check Compass and check in with their teachers to ensure that all assignments and set homework have been completed. It is important to emphasise that if students are feeling overwhelmed with the workload, we encourage them to communicate with their teachers who can then help support them.

We wish all Junior School students the very best for the remainder of Term 2!
