Yarra Ranges Youth Summit 2016
On Friday 20 May, a small group of our Year 9 students went to the Yarra Ranges Youth Summit at Billanook College. There were also different schools from the area that attended. A total of 400 Year 9 students were in attendance.
The day included three motivational speakers from different organisations. We were welcomed to the Wurundjeri land by an Indigenous person. We then were introduced to a public speaker that talked about being a teenager and body image. After that, we all went out for morning tea and looked around the school campus. It was great as we were able to socialise with students from other schools.
Once we went back into to the theatre and all seated, we were greeted by a comedian by the name of Sammy J. The Australian comedian talked to us about high school, growing up and ATAR scores.
Close to the end of the day after lunch, we had a final speaker who was a meditation instructor. We concluded the day by completing a meditation session with the instructor.
