VCE English Studies
Students in both Year 11 and 12 have embarked upon their final area of study for the semester. Following this, they will sit a three hour mid-year examination.
At the conclusion of their Year 12 studies, the three hour exam is a unique feature of VCE English and it is vital that students from both year levels use this mid-year exam as preparation in terms of time management and writing under exam conditions.
Being able to understand the challenges that come with such an exam, and how they must prepare themselves for three areas of study, is an integral part of our students’ development in the VCE years.
Students will be given some time to revise and prepare for the exam at both year levels, and they should be seeing the experience as both an important and valuable one.
Writing Folio- Years 7 to 9
Students from Years 7 to 9 will be keeping in mind that the due date for their semester-long writing folio project will be nearing.
Students need to have conferenced their writing with their teachers so as to ‘polish’ their work for submission.
With a handful of weeks remaining until submission dates, these conferences should be at the forefront of our writer’s minds if they are to be comprehensively prepared to submit a complete folio.
Our writing competition ends this week and all students should be congratulated for submitting their best piece of work for the semester.
Well done to all students involved and particularly those who were judged as our competition winners. It is fantastic to see the level of complexity and thought shown in our student writing, as we were lucky enough to have an overwhelming amount of strong entries.
