The Music Department has been buzzing with wonderful musical experiences. At the end of last term we ran a project in conjunction with Dandenong Ranges Music Council as part of Youth Week. It was a 'Full Drumming Circle', where two specialists came to work with the music students in African Drumming.

The VCE Music class and 8.69 Music class were lucky enough to workshop with them for two hours.

Then several of the Instrumental Music students participated in a fun two-hour workshop.

Over 120 students participated in the day and loved every minute of it.

The VCE Music Class were also lucky to have a Masterclass on performing and playing in different styles.

Amy Cumming invited two special guest musicians to talk and perform for the class. Then, some of the students performed for them, receiving advice and suggestions for their music.

The Grade 6 Information Night was held on Thursday 11 May and the LHS Concert Band and VCE Soloists performed beautifully.

Amy Cumming organised to hire a ‘Grand Piano’ for the students in her VCE Music class last week. They were delighted and excited to see the beautiful instrument from ABC Pianos.

The students have been working hard all year in their classes rehearsing on their final performance exam items, which involves providing 25 minutes of music. They had two performance evenings, which were very successful and the students made use of the Grand Piano.

On Wednesday 31 May, the LHS Vocal Ensemble will perform at the Victorian Indigenous Remembrance Day at the Shrine of Remembrance. The “Mullum Mullum Gathering Place Indigenous Choir” invited the ensemble to perform at this special occasion.
