Reptile Encounter

During October the Year 7s were paid their annual visit from the team at Reptile Encounters. Below is a student account of their experiences and it is safe to say that everyone had a great time meeting the many animals that made the trip to St Bede’s.

On Wednesday the 30th of October, the Year 7's experienced a once in a lifetime opportunity. We were shown different animals and were told how they are classified. The animals that were the most exciting were Tiny the python (Pythonidae) and Charlie the saltwater crocodile (Crocodylinae). We were allowed to touch the animals once Jess our expert taught us how to classify and interact with these animals. Overall this was a very fun event and full of great facts that we could then use in Science class. Over the coming weeks we are completing an investigation using Binomial Nomenclature. We will be exploring different species found in and around our homes and gardens.

We look forward to welcoming the Reptile Encounters team again next year.
