Taking Care of Me
Sexual Health Education Program
On Tuesday 26th February, Year 9 students participated in the Taking Care of Me Program. This is a health promotion activity that focuses on building students’ knowledge and understanding of sexual health.
The program strives to enhance informed decision making, focusing on healthy relationships, safe sex and contraception, sexually transmitted infections, condoms, the influence of pornography and sex and the law.
Students participate in small group learning activities, facilitated by professionals from Women’s Health Nurse from GV Health, Uniting, School Nurses and Victoria Police.
The program ran with great enthusiasm and instigated many questions about this important part of adolescent development. It is hoped that students will also talk to their parents about this important subject. The evaluation conducted, on how much students had learnt from the program, was very positive.
