Year 9 Outdoor Ed Camp

Student Reflections
On May 17, the Year 9 Outdoor Ed Students headed off to Cape Otway National Park for a hiking camp. Here are some student reflections from their time away:
Overall, the whole camp was really good and I really enjoyed it. I am so happy I could have this experience and even though a few bad things happened I feel like that also made it; because those little mistakes just made the entire camp as a whole, really good.

I think some of the things I could do differently next time would be find the cheese so we could have a flavoursome dinner and probably bring warmer clothes to sleep in. But all in all, I think the camp was great fun and it was great getting home and sleeping in my own bed and having a nice shower.

A sense of achievement washed over me and let the feeling of pride sink in as I changed into fresh, warm clothes ready for the trip back. The trip back was relaxed, everyone was relieved to be back in a place that got them more than a bar of cell phone reception. Fresh, hot food seemed a privilege as we ate our dinner on the road and the bus quickly got back to school.

All in all, it was difficult, but I learned more about myself and my abilities which was good. I also learned that I need to push past my comfort zone, and I gained calf muscles.

Overall, the camp was a great hiking trip with great weather, great views, a great trail and great friends and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.
