MATHLETICS NEWS

Congratulations to Anjana Kandel on achieving a GOLD certificate for Mathletics this year.  Also to Lily Peacock who has achieved her second GOLD certificate following on from her first certificate last year.

A slow start to the term with only 15 certificates awarded in the first week but I am sure if everyone joins in we could make this the term where Lilydale achieves our goal of 500 certificates per term.

Don't forget if you have lost or forgotten your usernames or passwords for Mathletics you can ask your Maths teachers or email Ms Atsi via Compass or visit staffroom 4 at recess or lunchtime.

YEAR 7 ALGEBRA UNIT

Have you ever wanted to help your child in Mathematics but, didn't know where to start? Have you ever thought to yourself that “Maths just isn't taught the same way that it used to be?” If this is you; then we have the perfect solution.

Students studying Year 7 Mathematics have just started their unit on Patterns & Algebra. Many students find this to be a difficult topic to get their head around initially. This is why we have created an on-line, differentiated, self paced unit for your child to work from. What’s more, is that you can also find countless videos that you are able to watch with your child to help them with their Mathematics should they get stuck! You can view this website by visiting the link below:

https://sites.google.com/a/lilydalehs.vic.edu.au/lilydalehighmathematics/about/patterns-and-algebra

The website has numerous hyperlinks to all of the skills that are being covered within your child’s Mathematics class this term.  There are also video tutorials and differentiated worksheets that will get your child to explore various concepts related to algebra at a level which is appropriate to them.

BEAT THE TEACHER

Do you think you have what it takes to ‘Beat The Teacher’ in a brainiac battle of wit and intelligence?

Every Monday a video is put on Compass with a problem for students to solve before their teacher does.

We have purchased a great selection of prizes for the winners to ‘lucky dip’ from each week. Students can win anything from chocolates to iTunes vouchers. The first 5 students to submit their entries in each week are notified to collect their prize from Ms Kaspar in the Ramp Staffroom!
