JUNIOR SCHOOL

TERM 3 - WELCOME BACK

Despite the weather being cold and dreary, our Year 7 cohort has returned for Semester 2 with a sense of great enthusiasm and energy.  With the change over in timetables, students will find themselves with a set of new teachers and subjects that they will need to engage themselves with. The students’ core subjects will continue, with all of our students having feedback from their Semester 1 report to look upon in order to improve their achievement.

Term 3 has definitely begun with a great sense of excitement and energy as our group embark upon their second semester of secondary school.

COMPASS

The beginning of the semester is a great opportunity for me to remind parents about the importance of Compass (Parent Portal).

Student’s reports and academic progress, as well as communication with their teachers are available through the system and it can be extremely useful in keeping up to date with your child’s progress at school.

Parents and guardians who may have forgotten their username and password, should contact the Junior School Office.

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS

I was pleased to receive notice about the sporting accomplishments of three of our students recently.

Congratulations to Bailey King from 7.48, who competed in the first round of the Victorian School's Mountain Bike Championship last week.

A big congratulations as well to Eliza Bentley from 7.37 who has been selected to represent Victoria in the state Softball team at an upcoming competition.

And, finally, I’d like to congratulate Georgia Laven from 7.57 who came first in the state Cross Country competition.

It is fantastic to be able to recognise the achievements of our students both in and outside of the classroom.  At our assemblies and through our consistent dealings with the students, the coordination team are always trying to encourage effort and achievement and it’s great to be able to recognise students who have accomplished such great things.

ATHLETICS CARINVAL

Friday’s Athletics carnival was a great success, with all of our Year 7 students involving themselves in what is a great day on the school calendar.

2016 YEAR 9 ATHLETE PROGRAM

In 2016, Lilydale High School will be offering students in Year 9 the opportunity to partake in the Athlete Development Program (ADP).

The Program is designed to cater for aspiring athletes from any sporting field and will consist of both a sporting focus as well as an academic focus. The ADP will involve the students partaking in sessions designed to give them an understanding of the requirements of becoming an elite athlete.

There is a maximum of 25 students allowed to partake in the ADP, therefore, there is a selection process that includes the completion of an application form, as well as a fitness-testing component.

Students interested in applying need to download the  application form attached and submit it to the Middle School Office by Friday 31 July.

Any questions, please see Mr Stuart in Staffroom 5.

2016 MIDDLE SCHOOL INFORMATION EVENING

Tuesday 28 July

6.30 pm

School Hall

Lilydale High School would like to invite Year 8 parents/guardians and students to the 2016 Middle School Course Selection Information Evening.

The purpose of this evening is to give you and your son/daughter the opportunity to find out more about various course offerings at Middle School for 2016.

You and your son/daughter will be asked to make important course selection choices during Term 3.  By attending the evening you and your son/daughter will find out about:

  • the guidelines/requirements for a balanced course
  • the timeline/procedure for choosing courses
  • the costs involved with some of the courses

The Careers teachers will be on hand to answer questions about how course selection at Middle School has a bearing on studies at Senior School and at tertiary institutions.

It is suggested that you and your son/daughter discuss details of specific courses with representatives from all Key Learning Areas, who will be in attendance to provide such information.

We hope that you are able to join us for this valuable evening.
