AROUND THE COLLEGE

AUSTRALIAN BUSINESS WEEK

Australian Business Week (ABW) was an experience that everyone really enjoyed. The groups consisted of Year 11 students doing business management, accounting, textiles, VCAL and economics.  Throughout the week we developed a company and a product, video advertisments, marketing decisions, trade displays, a report, business simulation and many more.  We experienced what it would be like in various roles of running a business, and we learnt more about each other and what we could do.

ABW was a great week and I really enjoyed it.  I know for sure that it gave an experience of what being in the workforce may be like.

Doing ABW was a really big week but I would 100% recommend it.  It wasn’t just about the business side of things, but the marketing, designing a logo, editing and a whole range of things which we all absolutely enjoyed.

On behalf of the students involved last week, I’d like to thank Miss Cox, Mrs Chamberlain, Mr Opie, Mrs Birnie, Ms Bell, Ms Hoyle, Mrs Lewis, Mr Eddie and every teacher that came in throughout the week to help us out, without you the week would not have gone as smoothly as it did because of all the hard work you put in.

I also know if I had the chance to do it again I’d take it in heartbeat, and I think that everyone that was involved would also.

MCAULEY HOUSE - CATHERINE MCAULEY CELEBRATION DAY

Today we celebrated Catherine McAuley at a house celebration day.  We explained what Catherine did in her lifetime, with a prayer dedicated to Catherine. We awarded our house awards and sports awards.  We ended our celebration with sharing cupcakes, and getting our homeroom photos. We appreciated our McAuley community connection by enjoying cupcakes with each other’s company.

FARMER FUNDRAISER - DROUGHT AWARENESS

The Mercy Café hosted a drought relief fundraiser.  On offer for the three course lunch was bruschetta, soup, roast lamb and chicken and golden syrup dumplings and brownies for dessert.  Thank you to all those that supported the event by attending or donating.

RU OK DAY

At lunchtime today students and staff members acknowledged RU OK day in the quadrangle with live music and yellow cupcakes.

Staying connected and having meaningful conversations is something we can all do. You don't need to be an expert - just a good friend and a great listener. So, if you notice someone who might be struggling - start a conversation. Read more at R U OK.
