Year 10 Core Maths

In Year 10 Core Maths, students have just completed a project in which they were learning about parabolas by analysing images of curves found in the real world.
Students fitted parabolas to images of Mr Walsh shooting hoops:
They used technology to analyse curves found in bridges and architecture:
They also filmed themselves throwing a ball and fitted a parabola to the path of the ball:
In each of the above examples, students were learning about:
- The key features of parabolas
- How to transform parabolas by manipulating their equations in turning point form
- How to determine the equation of a parabola from its graph
