Fossils of Bayside Incursions

During DNA to Dinosaurs, we had two incursions hosted by Ben Francischelli, a Palaeontologist who specialises in fossils found at the Beaumaris cliffs. The first incursion was online during lockdown where he showed us many fossils that he had found and what creature they belonged to and some key information on the animal.

The second incursion happened when we returned to onsite learning and we took on the job of paleo-artist where we had to draw an animal based on just its skull and small amounts of information from related species. This allowed us to see how fossil evidence can be used to determine the key features of extinct animals, which has helped us a lot in our PBL where we are creating case studies for 2 extinct animals!
