Wellbeing
What another year 2021 has been! Although it has been another challenging year, we brought our learning and experiences from 2020. Despite the multiple lockdowns, there have been exciting changes in Wellbeing.
We were very fortunate to welcome Peta Cartwright into the wellbeing team as our Mental Health Practitioner. Her social work background brought with her a wealth of knowledge and experience. It is hard to imagine the wellbeing team without her within less than a year.
While welcoming Peta, sadly, we also have to say goodbye to Stewart MacCartney. Anyone who has been part of the Fairhills Community for the last 14 years would have met and known Stewie. He has always remained a dedicated member of the wellbeing team who has touched and changed the lives of many young people and families. Although we will miss him, we wish Stewie all the best on his new adventures ahead, where I am sure he will continue to impact young people’s lives positively. Thank you, Stewie, for your commitment and dedication to our Fairhills Community.
We are excited to welcome Gail Ackroyd as our new chaplain. Gail is very experienced, and we are fortunate to have her as part of our wellbeing team. Gail has only been with us for a week and has already made herself known to our school community.
Despite the rollercoaster of 2021, we celebrated many campaigns and facilitated various programs throughout the year. 2021 started with the Breakfast Club at Fairhills, the Bridge Builders Camp, followed by the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence (NDA), International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT) Day, RU OK Day, and many other fun and exciting programs. We also welcomed our interns on their Social Work and Counselling professional practice placements.
We have had a very busy, exciting, and productive year. 2021 would not have been possible without Stewie McCartney, Peta Cartwright, Edmund Chow, Emily Harbard, and Tashena Perry. It has been a pleasure to be part of such a fantastic team of dedicated and passionate people who improve the lives of young people.
We wish you all safe and relaxing holidays on behalf of the Wellbeing Team. We look forward to the new adventures of 2022!
