From Our Students

POETRY

Exhibition is a 10 week inquiry process that all Year Six students undertake.

It is a collection of all of our approaches to learning throughout our primary school years  in the PYP.

We are required to inquire into a topic of interest, become experts and take action to raise awareness or contribute to a solution. For my exhibition, Will, Vincent and I inquired into civil wars because we wanted to make a change in the way people viewed civil wars and educate them about the impact.

We all had an interest in the topic and some prior knowledge. This poem is based around the perspectives of soldiers serving the Taliban and the innocent people in Afghanistan. It describes weapons, vehicles and general experiences of the Afghanistan Civil War.

Civil Wars

Some orphans feel sick,

Men frightened with terror

While soldiers rapidly kick,

Doing their job with no error.

People killed, others weep

Many people are scared

While soldiers drive in an armoured Jeep

Sirens ear piercingly blared.

Soldiers shooting guns

They are resting up in bed

While others refill on buns

Others are going to the gun shed.

Aerial forces are in jet planes

Some soldiers have fell

The enemy are being tied in chains

While others are drinking from a well.

Enemy veterans are using tanks

Some soldiers are done

While soldiers are climbing up army ranks

others strength is none.

The battlefield is full of landmines

people have run out of food

While enemy soldiers blow up their spines

The enemy soldiers are being very rude.

Bayonets are swinging

Assault rifle firing

While ears are ringing

These wars are so tiring.

Ammunition rattling

Wounds stinging

Bandages clattering

The enemy is winning.
