Incoming  Year  12 2023 and Patterns of Study for the HSC

With many students considering changing levels and dropping subjects, last week Mrs Barrett gave a presentation on the importance of checking implications when it comes to university as an option and the potential impact on early entry applications and possibly adjustment factors when it comes to subjects which are prerequisites or assumed knowledge for university courses. This varies from university to university which is why students need to spend some time investigating implications of making changes so they do not restrict their options and opportunities at the end of Year 12.

Galmatic

Regional Industry and Education Partnerships offered a subsidised visit by Galmatic last week. Galmatic has 15 years experience in teaching car maintenance school incursions to High Schools across New South Wales. It has been identified that many teenagers have not been shown basic car know-how. Students who attended the workshop were able to learn the skill of changing tyres, checking tyre pressure, how your car engine works, basic service requirements and safety aspects.

This was a very informative and hands-on experience.

Belmore Engineering - Industry Visit “Flash Starts Program”

10 students were provided the opportunity for an industry visit with Belmore Engineering.  As part of the “Flash Starts Program” supported by RIEP, students were given a tour of the workshop, watched a presentation and engaged in supervised activities. Members of the Belmore Engineering team supervised the students manufacturing, assembling and welding their own fire pit project. The fire pits were scored and the winner of the Flash Starts program will receive a Welders Package and the opportunity for a work experience program with Belmore Engineering. This was a terrific opportunity for our students to be mentored by the qualified metal fabricators at Belmore Engineering.
