2022 Great Cycle Challenge

Hi MPS community

I've signed up for the 2022 Great Cycle Challenge and will be riding this October to fight kids' cancer!

My goal is to pedal 75 km throughout the month. Why am I doing this? Because cancer is the largest killer of children from disease in Australia - 3 children die of cancer every week.

My challenge will be tough, but it's nothing compared to what these brave kids and their families face every day of their lives as they battle this terrible disease.

Kids should be living life, NOT fighting for it.

And so, I am taking on this challenge to end childhood cancer and save little lives.

Please support me by making a donation through my fundraising page: https://greatcyclechallenge.com.au/Riders/TahliaRollings all funds raised will support Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work to develop innovative treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Thank you for your support.

Cheer Toastie Truck

On Tuesday the 18th October the Cheer Toastie Truck visited Marlborough Primary School for a special fundraising lunch. 125 students enjoyed a Toastie and a drink for lunch. We raised over $400 for the school and had lots of fun! Thanks to Kate Flower and Peter Kostopolous for volunteering in the truck.

2022 Junior SWAT

Congratulations to Xanthe and Reina from Year 5 who are our 2022 Junior SWAT (Student Wellbeing Action Team) Leaders.

Last night, at EV's Youth Centre, they presented to the Mayor, Councillors and Youth Workers of Maroondah City Council, along with many teachers, parents and friends of other Junior and Senior SWAT Leaders from local primary and secondary schools.

Xanthe and Reina gave a presentation that detailed the SWAT project they have been running over the past 6 months. Their research question was "What issues are children in Maroondah facing today?’ They have been collecting data, via surveys, on conflict issues and presenting short lessons for students on the different styles of conflict resolution. Xanthe and Reina chose to focus on the Relationships pillar from the PERMAH model for their wellbeing project and investigation.

When presented with their Junior SWAT certificates last night, it was also announced that they had been nominated for a Maroondah City Council Youth Award. Congratulations Xanthe and Reina - we are so proud of your achievements and your developing leadership skills!
