LITERACY

In Reading, the students will be learning to: 

• Make connections to personal experiences, other texts and  developing world knowledge to interpret and infer deeper meaning. (Making Connections)
• Read and discuss texts with multiple characters and analyse and infer their motives, feelings and how they relate to each other based on their dialogue. (Inferring/Visualising)
• Read texts demonstrating all aspects of smooth, fluent processing with few slowdowns for word solving. (Fluency)  

In Writing, the students will be learning to: 

• Re-read writing with the audience in mind and make changes to ensure that the message is clear for the reader and that detail is provided in the most important parts of the text.
• Take pride in the content and presentation of their writer’s notebook and pieces that are to be published.
• Take risks as writers and experiment with producing unique pieces that reflect their personality and interests.
